--- title: "Price Discussion Documentation" description: "Reference and onboarding for Price Discussion — the generative art platform where the community discussing prices is the product. The app, the smart contracts, and the $PRICE token." category: "introduction" keywords: ["price discussion", "priceos", "generative art", "ethereum", "documentation"] last_updated: "2026-09-24" --- # Price Discussion Documentation Price Discussion is a generative art platform on Ethereum — filtered, not curated — where the community discussing prices is the product. Artists deploy fully on-chain generative Projects through a factory contract; collectors mint Outputs at primary and trade on the secondary market; and the platform — PriceOS — treats the resulting price movement as a form of aesthetic discourse. This documentation covers the three layers of the platform: **the app** (PriceOS, the software collectors and artists actually use), **the smart contracts** (the on-chain protocol every Project runs on), and **the $PRICE token**. PriceOS is optimized for **iPhone (iPhone 12 and up)** — and in particular for the **installed PWA**: add Price Discussion to your Home Screen from Safari's share sheet and it runs full-screen as its own app, which is the platform as it is meant to be experienced. Desktop and other browsers work; the iPhone PWA is the reference. ## Choose a starting point **Artists** — read [How PD Works for Artists](/docs/for-artists/how-pd-works), then [Submit a Project](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project). Your workspace — uploading, testing, publishing, and managing your Projects — is [PD Studio](/docs/studio/overview). **Collectors** — read [How PD Works for Collectors](/docs/for-collectors/how-pd-works), then [Wallet Setup](/docs/for-collectors/wallet-setup). **Developers** — start with the [Contract Architecture](/docs/contracts/overview), then the per-contract references: [PDFactory](/docs/contracts/pd-factory), [PDProject](/docs/contracts/pd-project), [PaymentSplitter](/docs/contracts/payment-splitter). **AI agents** — a machine-readable index of every page on this site lives at [/llms.txt](/llms.txt), the whole site is one fetch at [/llms-full.txt](/llms-full.txt), and every page is available as raw markdown by appending `.md` to its URL. ## What Price Discussion is A filter on Ethereum's existing primitives — a quality floor, not a taste-making gate. Each Project on PD is a separately deployed, immutable ERC-721 contract (**PDProject**) created by a single factory (**PDFactory**). The generative script itself is stored on Ethereum — `tokenURI` returns a self-contained document that renders the artwork from chain data alone, with no server, no IPFS pin, and no external dependency for the art. Royalties are signalled through EIP-2981. A Project's terms at mint are its terms forever: no admin keys, no pausing, no upgrades. Primary mints happen through the PDProject contract directly. After that, PD runs **its own order book** — listings, offers and sales live in the app, at [/marketplace](/docs/marketplace) — and the same Outputs trade anywhere else too, because they are standard ERC-721s: third-party venues that honor EIP-2981 pay the royalty, and PriceOS aggregates and interprets that activity alongside its own. ## A machine, not a space Most art platforms are a *space*. A gallery, a feed, a storefront: rooms you walk through and look at from a polite distance, all painted the same white. Price Discussion is a *machine*. It's a micro-toy you hold in your hand and play with. You paint it your own colorway. You slap stickers on your profile and rearrange them. You hang a charm off your name, flip a coin, get pinged, keep a Spite Book. Every surface has something to press, and pressing it does something. That puts PD closer to the things collected on it than to the platforms that usually sell them. Like a good collectible, it has a look you choose, parts you swap, a feel in the hand, and a reason to take it out and fiddle with it again tomorrow. You don't visit PD. You carry it (digitally). ## What this documentation covers - **[The App](/docs/app/overview)** — every PriceOS surface: Projects and minting, Outputs, identity and profiles, the collector toolset, the Spell Book, Pings, achievements, discovery, and display settings. - **[Stickers](/docs/stickers/overview)** — the platform's second economy: on-chain SVG collectibles in sealed sheets, with a store, a marketplace, and a binder of their own. - **[Smart contracts](/docs/contracts/overview)** — the factory, the per-Project ERC-721, the royalty splitters, the sticker shop, and the on-chain library registry, with real function signatures from the deployed source. - **[$PRICE token](/docs/price-token/overview)** — official PD merch: what it is, what it isn't, tokenomics, and the contract reference. - **Onboarding** — guided paths for [artists](/docs/for-artists/how-pd-works) and [collectors](/docs/for-collectors/how-pd-works). ## Who built this Price Discussion is a solo-founder platform engineered with frontier AI, and says so with pride: **the platform — PriceOS, PD Studio, PD-Docs, PDMCP, and the smart-contract suite — was built by Claude** (Anthropic's Claude models; the hardest engineering, including the smart contracts, by Claude Fable). Several of the launch catalog's generative art engines were composed with **Gemini 3.0 Pro**. Every line was specified, directed, reviewed, and shipped by the founder — the AI is the engineering team, not the author of the vision. We lean into this because it says exactly what we want artists and collectors to know: the craftsmanship is real, the codebase is coherent, and the platform was built in a way that simply wasn't possible before this era. Claude-made communicates quality. ## Platform status The PriceOS app and the contract suite are complete and running against Ethereum's Sepolia test network, where the full suite — factory, Project, splitters, library registry, and the sticker shop — is deployed and exercised end to end. Mainnet deployment is the launch event; contract addresses are published in these docs when they exist. The [$PRICE token](/docs/price-token/contract) is already live on Ethereum mainnet. ## Further reading - [Quickstart](/docs/quickstart) — five paths into PD, each under a minute of reading. - [Your First Hour](/docs/first-hour) — the checklist that turns a fresh wallet into a set-up PD life. - [What's New](/docs/whats-new) — the recent additions, newest first. - [When Something Looks Wrong](/docs/troubleshooting) — the predictable panics, pre-answered. - [Glossary](/docs/reference/glossary) — definitions for Project, Output, Artwork, Token, @name, and the platform's distinctive vocabulary. --- --- title: "Quickstart" description: "Five paths into Price Discussion: artists submitting work, collectors connecting a wallet, developers reading the contracts, agents fetching markdown, and the curious." category: "introduction" keywords: ["quickstart", "getting started", "introduction"] last_updated: "2026-10-12" --- # Quickstart Five paths into Price Discussion, each in under a minute of reading. Pick the one that matches your role. ## I am an artist Read [How PD Works](/docs/for-artists/how-pd-works) for the thesis and the deal in plain terms. When you are ready: 1. [Submit a Project](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project) covers what to send and what happens next. 2. [The Mint Flow](/docs/for-artists/the-mint-flow) is what actually happens on-chain when your Project deploys and mints. 3. [Royalties](/docs/for-artists/royalties) is the money page: 95% of every primary mint to you, paid at mint time in the mint transaction itself; 3% of every secondary sale via EIP-2981. ## I am a collector Connect a wallet on the app and sign in with Ethereum — your wallet is your identity, there is no separate account and no email. 1. [Wallet Setup](/docs/for-collectors/wallet-setup) covers wallets, Sign-In With Ethereum, and the @name. 2. [The Secondary Market](/docs/for-collectors/the-secondary-market) covers trading PD Outputs and verifying authenticity before you buy. 3. [The App overview](/docs/app/overview) tours the surfaces you'll actually live in. Browsing, starring, wishlisting, and following are free. Fees exist only where a transaction touches the chain: minting and trading. (And when the art market feels heavy, [the sticker economy](/docs/stickers/overview) is the same platform at pocket-money stakes.) ## I am a developer The chain is the source of truth for everything tokenized; the app is the source of truth for everything social. Start with the [contract architecture](/docs/contracts/overview), then the per-contract pages — every signature in them is taken from the deployed source: - [PDFactory](/docs/contracts/pd-factory) — deploys every Project, holds the artist whitelist and platform wallets. - [PDProject](/docs/contracts/pd-project) — the per-Project ERC-721: fully on-chain generative art, payouts no wallet can block, EIP-2981. - [PaymentSplitter](/docs/contracts/payment-splitter) — the per-Project secondary royalty splitter. - [PDLibraryRegistry](/docs/contracts/library-registry) — blessed JavaScript libraries stored on-chain for the art to use. ## I am an AI agent Everything on this site is built to be read by you: - [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) — machine-readable index of every page, with descriptions. - [/llms-full.txt](/llms-full.txt) — the entire documentation as a single markdown file. - Every page is raw markdown at its own URL + `.md` (for example `/docs/quickstart.md`). Authenticity of any claimed PD Project is verifiable on-chain with one call: `PDFactory.isProject(address)`. See [The Secondary Market](/docs/for-collectors/the-secondary-market) for the verification pattern. ## I am just curious Read the [Introduction](/docs) for the platform in one page, then the [App overview](/docs/app/overview) for what PriceOS actually feels like. The thesis in one sentence: **secondary market prices as aesthetic discourse.** That sentence is the door. ## Further reading - [Introduction](/docs) - [Smart Contracts Overview](/docs/contracts/overview) - [$PRICE Token](/docs/price-token/overview) - [Glossary](/docs/reference/glossary) --- --- title: "Your First Hour" description: "The checklist that turns a fresh wallet into a set-up PD life: connect, claim your @name, install the app, switch on pings, and make your first moves — with an artist edition below." category: "introduction" keywords: ["first hour", "checklist", "onboarding", "getting started", "new user", "setup", "install"] last_updated: "2026-08-05" --- # Your First Hour Everything on this page is free, and none of it touches the chain until the one step that says so. Do these in order and PD is fully set up around you — the platform starts working for you from step 4 on, even while you sleep. ## The collector's first hour 1. **Connect and sign in.** Tap **Connect**, pick your wallet, sign the message it shows you — a signature, not a transaction; costs nothing. Your wallet is the whole account: no email, no password. ([Wallet Setup](/docs/for-collectors/wallet-setup)) 2. **Claim your @name and face.** First sign-in walks you through your handle, your **PriceSprite**, and your profile color. The @name is how the whole platform knows you, permanently. ([Identity & Profiles](/docs/app/identity-and-profiles)) 3. **Install PD to your Home Screen.** Safari → share sheet → **Add to Home Screen**. This is the platform as it's meant to be lived in — full screen, its own app — and it's required for lock-screen pings on iPhone. ([The Shell](/docs/app/the-shell)) 4. **Turn your pings on.** Open the connect menu → MY PD → **MY PINGS**: cycle the ⇡ pill to **3D** (or COMBO) and allow when iOS asks. From this moment sales, offers, and wishlist hits reach your lock screen — the platform watches so you don't have to. ([Pings — Controls](/docs/pings/controls)) 5. **Walk Now Minting and star freely.** The home carousel is what's live right now. **★ star** Outputs you like — it's a private, silent bookmark, so be generous with it. Star an **artist** or a **project** (long-press its title) and their moves start feeding your pings. ([Discovery](/docs/app/discovery)) 6. **Wishlist what you actually want.** **✛** is declared buy intent, still private — and it has teeth: the moment a wishlisted Output is listed or sells, you're pinged. Your want-list becomes a tripwire. ([Outputs](/docs/app/outputs)) 7. **Mint your first Output** — the one step that touches the chain. Tap MINT on a Project you love; the wallet sheet shows the exact total before you approve, and the artist is paid 95% inside your own transaction. Long-press the mint button first if you want the room: crowd, supply bar, soundtrack. ([Projects & Minting](/docs/app/projects-and-minting)) 8. **Set one Sentinel trap.** Open the To-Dos panel, type something like *"buy prisms 22 under .4"* — the platform now checks the real market **every minute, server-side**, and pings your phone the moment your number hits. This is the set-it-and-forget-it heart of PD. ([To-Dos & Workflows](/docs/todos-and-workflows)) One more, because you'll find it eventually anyway: **triple-tap any page's background.** That's [the Command Stone](/docs/command-stone) — find anything, ask anything, type `wrapped` at the end of your first month. ## The artist's first hour 1. **Read the deal in plain terms.** The thesis, what deploying means, and the economics — 95% of primary at mint time, 5% royalty split 3/2 on secondary. ([How PD Works](/docs/for-artists/how-pd-works), [Royalties](/docs/for-artists/royalties)) 2. **Walk into [PD Studio](/docs/studio/overview)** — no wallet, no permission needed. Draft a Project, upload your script, and run real test runs on simulated token hashes: what you test is exactly what would ship. ([Upload & Testing](/docs/studio/upload-and-testing)) 3. **Open the conversation.** All artist relations run through one door: DM [brendonrell](https://x.com/brendonrell) on X — two or three lines and a link to the work is plenty. Questions welcome before anything formal. ([Get in Touch](/docs/for-artists/get-in-touch)) 4. **Know the second door exists.** Every whitelisted PD artist holds two vouch slots — if one believes in your work, they can put you forward from their Studio. ([Submit a Project](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project)) ## Further reading - [Quickstart](/docs/quickstart) — the five paths, by role - [When Something Looks Wrong](/docs/troubleshooting) — the panics, pre-answered - [What's Public](/docs/whats-public) · [What's Private](/docs/whats-private) — the visibility map --- --- title: "What's New" description: "The platform's recent additions, newest first — a running highlights reel of what shipped, each line linking into its own manual page." category: "introduction" keywords: ["whats new", "new features", "updates", "releases", "recent", "changelog"] last_updated: "2026-10-12" --- # What's New The recent additions, newest first — the highlights reel, not the full ledger. Every numbered feature lives in [the Atlas](/docs/features); every line below links to its manual page. ## October 2026 - **[The Exchange](/docs/exchange) became a trading floor** — built on the Grand Exchange. Trade Outputs, sealed sticker sheets and keychains, with ETH on one side if you like. Send a trade to one collector, or post it to **the board** for anyone to fill — an open trade can ask for *any* Output from a Project. Eight slots with live clocks, a **FOR YOU** row for trades that match your wishlist or what you hold, a GUIDE value on every side, and a record of every trade. Still no fee, ever. - **Sticker swaps moved to the Exchange** — the Sticker Exchange's SWAPS row opens the board on sheets, and TRADE IT starts an open trade with your copies already in it. ## September 2026 - **[Composer ⊚](/docs/composer) learned price** — rules on an Output's real last sale, mint, best offer, times sold and how long it's been held; ask vs. floor by a percentage; NOT and OR; new price sorts; floor and average on the live strip; list or offer on the whole answer. And **WATCH** a Program: PD Pings you when something new matches, app open or not. - **Every price is real** — floors, last sales, the Price Lens, Price Memory, your Starred and Wishlist rows and your PriceSprite score breakdown all read the actual market now. - **Zoom into the art in [PriceStream](/docs/pricestream)** — pinch an Output and it re-renders razor sharp, or press and hold for the loupe: the same jeweler's lens the Output page has, now on the feed. The star confirm got twice as big while we were in there. - **[PriceStream ⇈](/docs/pricestream) never ends** — it tops itself up as you near the bottom, so the swipe keeps going. Double-tap an Output to star it, share an Output and your link opens the feed on it, and closing with things starred offers them straight to your cart. - **[Your cart](/docs/app/collector-tools#the-cart) tells you what changed** — an Output that sold while it sat there, a price that moved, an offer standing against it. It shows on the row, marks the cart in the nav, and reaches you as a Ping. Buying now prints **The Haul**, a receipt you can save. - **[The Offers Desk](/docs/for-collectors/the-secondary-market#the-offers-desk)** — your profile's Offers tab is now a dashboard. It works out the most ETH you can take right now as a real set of accepts (an Output only sells once, so overlapping bids don't double-count), marks those rows, and shows what's tied up in your own open offers. Every offer is read against the project's live floor, what you paid, and what the Output last sold for. - **[PriceStream ⇈](/docs/pricestream)** — a full-screen vertical swipe feed of the catalog, one Output per card. Early days — the algorithm is still a flat sample, not yet tuned to your taste. - **History caught up to Starred** — AZ joins ◷ Recent in its sort row, and the **LISTS** door is open too: multi-select any run of History and file it straight into a List, same sheet as Starred. ([Lists](/docs/lists)) ## August 2026 - **[Fair Draw](/docs/fair-draw/overview) is complete** — contested drops settle by a provably fair draw with a **public transcript page** whose verifier replays the whole draw in your own browser against the on-chain anchor. One tap, two endings, nothing to game. - **The contract suite took a full-stack security pass** — including a dedicated attestation key for keychain luck and receive-proof wallet rotation. The [contract pages](/docs/contracts/overview) carry every detail. - **[Colorpedia](/docs/colorpedia)** — the whole book on any color: exact math, real names, real history, honest nearest-neighbor matches. On every Project's Colorway tile, and in [the Stone](/docs/command-stone/abilities) (`color cinnabar`, or just paste a hex). - **Sticker arrangements now live on your account** — your composed profile look follows you across devices like everything else, and every arrangement always fits the screen. - **Achievements went quiet on purpose** — no toasts, no pushes; one rolled inbox row and your grid. ([Achievements](/docs/app/achievements)) - **Rarity joined the sort pills** — #ID and $PRICE each cycle their own directions and then rarity's, marked ❖. - **This manual took a front-to-back accuracy pass** — all 80-odd pages read against the shipped app and the finalized contracts, with every glyph checked against the ones the app actually draws. ## July 2026 - **[Keychains](/docs/keychains/overview) & [Le Depanneur](/docs/keychains/the-depanneur)** — one-of-one charms from a capsule machine, drawn entirely on-chain; your streak buys luck at the crank, and gold and chrome are the rare pulls. - **[Exchange](/docs/exchange)** — head-to-head trading, Outputs for Outputs with an optional sweetener. No fee, ever. (Grew into the full trading floor in October.) - **[The PriceOS Suite](/docs/suite)** — calendar, tasks, workflows, money desk, contacts, notes, and a calm room, one workspace. - **[The Command Stone](/docs/command-stone)** — triple-tap anywhere: find, ask, compute, etch, cast, summon. - **[Factions](/docs/factions)** — the color war: oaths, the Marginalia, sieges, and a Book that never resets. - **[Cartography](/docs/cartography)** and **[the Rewind](/docs/rewind)** — the platform as a living map, and the whole OS scrubbed back to any past day. - **[The Dispatch](/docs/dispatch)** — the daily paper, printed from the ledger, archived forever — plus its email Digest three times a month. - **[The Fingerprint](/docs/fingerprint)** — every artwork measured from its actual pixels: color, light, composition, and the four taste axes. - **[The Gnomes](/docs/gnomes/overview)** — every Project's keeper, and the platform's real-fake NFT collection: genuinely scarce, genuinely tradable, deliberately never on a chain. - **[PDMCP](/docs/mcp)** — the public MCP server: any AI agent reads PD as live tools, no key, read-only. - **[The Sticker Channel](/docs/stickers/the-sticker-channel)** — a 22-second episode a day, 365 a year, above the shelf. - **[Golf Score & the Clubhouse](/docs/app/projects-and-minting)** — engine size as a stat; low score wins, the artist takes the flag. Older than this? The [Feature Atlas](/docs/features) is the permanent numbered index of everything, and [the Rewind](/docs/rewind) will happily show you the platform the day any of it arrived. --- --- title: "What's Public on PD" description: "Everything on PD anyone can see, feature by feature: the on-chain record, your profile and its surfaces, market activity, the social graph, presence, the war record, and the leaderboards." category: "public-private" keywords: ["public", "privacy", "transparency", "on-chain", "profile", "visibility"] last_updated: "2026-10-12" --- # What's Public on PD PD is a public-by-default social layer over a public blockchain. The honest framing: **if it lives on-chain or on a profile, assume the whole world can see it.** This page is the complete map of what that means, feature by feature; its mirror is [What's Private](/docs/whats-private) — a much shorter page, on purpose. ## The on-chain record — public forever Ethereum is a public ledger, and PD adds nothing that hides it: - Every **mint, sale, transfer, and offer**, with prices, parties, and timestamps. - **Who holds what, and for how long** — the full custody chain of every Output, readable from standard `Transfer` events by anyone, with or without PD. - **All money mechanics** — royalty splits, pending balances, and every payout on the [Project](/docs/contracts/pd-project) and [splitter](/docs/contracts/payment-splitter) contracts. ## Your profile — the public you Everything on a profile page is public to every visitor: - Your **@name**, **PriceSprite**, and **PriceRank / PriceScore / PriceStreak**. - Your **Collected** holdings, **Portfolio**, and **trade record** — these mirror the chain, which already tells this story. - Your **Showcase** (all four engine modes) and your **Achievements** wall. - Your **sticker hero** — the arrangement you compose is precisely what visitors see. (Which sheets you own beyond what you display stays your business; the [Binder](/docs/stickers/the-binder-and-your-profile) is your own view.) - Your **[Vault](/docs/app/identity-and-profiles)** (⚿) — the numbered walls of owned Outputs you designate as vaulted, stats block included. - Your **faction allegiance and oath history** — the flag you fly, your time under it, and any defection scar. Your forged **Sigil** trails your @name everywhere. See [Factions](/docs/factions). - **Takeover verdicts** — casting one banners both profiles for its 72 hours, and the outcome (COMPLETED / PARTIAL / WITHSTOOD) is inscribed on the record. WITHSTOOD is worn for 180 days. - **Albums** — public shelves. Anyone can see an album and who made it: your profile, the artwork's Albums tab, and every Project page whose work you've shelved, where the tile carries your @name over the album number. Albums are numbered, never named — the art is the only thing they say. See [Albums](/docs/albums). ## Social and market - **Followers and following** — the social graph is readable in both directions, and relationship glyphs (⚭ ⚯ ⚬) annotate names across the app. - **Listings, offers, and sales** — the discussion itself. Your market actions run through [the Tape](/docs/app/the-shell), the feeds, and other collectors' [Pings](/docs/pings/overview) with your @name attached. - **The Marginalia** — every artwork's margin records every hand that ever held it, permanently: sales in deep ink, private transfers faint. Anyone who performs the ceremony can read an Output's hands. They can sell, but they can't unsign you. - **Presence** — while you're on a Project page, [the Audience](/docs/app/projects-and-minting) shows a breathing dot for you (signed-out visitors read as anonymous dots). The [Deactivate spell](/docs/app/spell-book) is the one-way glass: stop broadcasting, keep seeing. ## Standings and the record - **Leaderboards** and podium finishes (❶❷❸) across the boards. - **The Book of Conquests** — the war's permanent chronicle: sieges, conquests, strongholds, relics, and struck stones, dated forever. - **The Dispatch** — a public daily paper assembled from the same ledger; if your sale was yesterday's biggest, it's in print, permanently, at a citable URL. - **Fair Draw records** — every drop that reaches its lock publishes its entry list, on its record page and on Arweave: each entrant's wallet and standing (pieces held, spend on PD mints, start date on PD), losing and voided entries included. To keep start dates honest, every account's wallet and the day it joined PD are written to Arweave too, permanently. See [How a Drop Settles](/docs/fair-draw/how-a-drop-settles#check-it-yourself). ## The design position Outside the Fair Draw records above, PD never publishes anything the chain doesn't already imply about your wallet — it *interprets* the public record and attaches the identity you chose to build on it. The things that are genuinely yours alone are listed, exhaustively, in [What's Private](/docs/whats-private). --- --- title: "What's Private on PD" description: "What stays yours alone on PD: notes, stars, wishlists, working state, settings, sealed price calls, drafts — and the fact that a wallet is the entire account." category: "public-private" keywords: ["private", "privacy", "notes", "wishlist", "settings", "visibility"] last_updated: "2026-10-12" --- # What's Private on PD A short page, on purpose: most of PD is public, and [What's Public](/docs/whats-public) is the long list. What follows is everything only you ever see — and the platform's one hard promise about data it never collects in the first place. ## Your private workspace The tools you think with are yours alone, always: - **Notes** (⊟) — on Outputs and on calendar days. Owner-only, forever. Write the real reason you bought it. - **Stars** (★) — the silent Output bookmark. Private, and deliberately signal-free: starring an Output never generates a Ping to anyone. - **Wishlist** (✛) — private buy intent. It drives *your* Pings (wishlist hits), never anyone else's view of you. - **Cart** (▢) and **Bench** — session working state. - **To-Dos** (❍), your **Calendar layer**, **Workflows** (☇), and every **Sentinel** target — including the ETH targets and budgets (◊) attached to them. The platform's watcher reads them to serve you; no other user can. - **Grail Pins**, **grid presets**, **Starred rows** (artists, projects, traits, soundtracks, collectors) — your declared taste feeds your own interest Pings and stays your own. ## Your calls, sealed **Price Targets** — your monthly floor call on a Project — are **sealed** while the window runs: only the count of calls shows. When the month turns, last window's crowd reveals as an anonymous histogram against where the floor actually landed. Your individual call is never published with your name, during or after. ## Your preferences Display settings, colorway, workspaces, every display mode and spell, ping controls, and your muted list (the Hammer ⟙) — all yours alone. Settings follow your account, not your browser, but they follow it privately. ## Studio, until you publish Draft Projects in [PD Studio](/docs/studio/overview) — scripts, test runs, parameters — are visible only to the wallet (or device) that made them. Nothing about a draft touches the chain or the platform's public surfaces until you deploy. The same goes for the [submission](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project) conversation itself. (A script that goes up in pieces is public on Ethereum as each piece lands, before the Project exists.) **Whitelisting is stealth.** Being added to the artist whitelist carries no public signal by itself — no badge, no [Artists directory](/artists) listing, no earned Artist tag — until you deploy your first Project. Only your own wallet can see whitelisted status ahead of that, from Studio. See the [Artist](/docs/reference/glossary) glossary entry. ## What PD never asks for There is no personal-information layer to leak: **a wallet is the entire account.** No email, no name, no phone number, no KYC. The single exception is opt-in and single-purpose — subscribing to [the Dispatch Digest](/docs/dispatch) stores the email you give it for exactly that delivery, with one-tap unsubscribe. ## The line, in one sentence **Public is what you do and display; private is what you save, set, and intend.** [Albums](/docs/albums) sit squarely on the public side — display, with your name on it. When a feature moves something across that line, the docs and the surface both say so. --- --- title: "For Artists — How PD Works" description: "The platform from the artist's side: the thesis, what deploying on PD actually means, the economics in plain terms, and what makes PD different." category: "for-artists" keywords: ["artists", "filtered", "onboarding", "generative art"] last_updated: "2026-10-12" --- # For Artists — How PD Works Price Discussion is a filtered — not curated — platform for generative art where the market conversation around a work is treated as part of the work's life. This page is the plain-terms framing; the deeper pages cover [submission](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project), [the mint flow](/docs/for-artists/the-mint-flow), and [royalties](/docs/for-artists/royalties). ## The thesis **Secondary market prices as aesthetic discourse.** PD filters for generative work where price discovery becomes part of the conceptual frame — not a vehicle for the work, but a contributor to it. The platform's entire surface (Price Story, the Genome, the Tape, Pings) is built to read market movement as a community talking about art. Every Project on PD passed the filter. There is no permissionless deployment; the gate is enforced off-chain through the [submission process](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project), and on-chain through an artist whitelist on the factory contract. But the gate is a **quality floor, not a taste-making program** — PD does not editorialize the catalog. What rises is the market's call, not the platform's. ## What deploying on PD means Your Project is a **separately deployed, immutable ERC-721 contract** that you create by calling the factory yourself, from your own wallet. The consequences are worth spelling out: - **The art lives on Ethereum.** Your generative script is stored on-chain, and every Output's `tokenURI` renders from chain data alone. No server, no IPFS pin, no platform dependency for the art itself. If PD disappeared tomorrow, your work would keep rendering. - **You are the artist on-chain.** The deploying wallet is recorded as the Project's immutable artist address — it receives primary proceeds and secondary royalties forever, and no one can change it. - **The terms are permanent.** Supply, mint price, and script are fixed at deployment. There is no admin function, no pause, no upgrade path — on your contract or anyone else's. ## The economics in one paragraph Primary: **95% of every mint goes to you, paid in the mint transaction itself** — no escrow, no claim step, no platform custody, plus a small flat per-token storage fee that goes to the platform's storage wallet to fund previews, reveals and Fair Draw records. Secondary: every Project signals a **5% royalty via EIP-2981**, split **3% to you / 2% to the platform** through a per-Project splitter you can withdraw from at any time, permissionlessly. Full detail with contract signatures on the [Royalties](/docs/for-artists/royalties) page. ## What PD asks of the work - **Generative, seriously.** The script is the artwork. PD stores it on-chain and renders every Output live from its token hash. - **Price Discussion–shaped.** Work whose meaning can hold up — or sharpen — when the market's reaction becomes part of its context. - **Edition sizes between 22 and 9,999.** Enforced by the factory at deployment. - **One Project at a time.** The factory enforces a 60-day cooldown between an artist's deployments, so each Project gets its own air. ## Further reading - [Submit a Project](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project) - [The Mint Flow](/docs/for-artists/the-mint-flow) - [Royalties](/docs/for-artists/royalties) - [PDProject contract reference](/docs/contracts/pd-project) --- --- title: "For Artists — Get in Touch" description: "How an artist who is curious about Price Discussion actually reaches the platform: every artist relation runs through DMs on X, what to send in that first message, and what happens after it." category: "for-artists" keywords: ["contact", "artist relations", "X", "twitter", "DM", "XChat", "interested", "curious"] last_updated: "2026-07-30" --- # For Artists — Get in Touch If you make generative work and you're curious about PD — whether you want to be considered, or you just want to ask a question before deciding — this is the page that tells you where to send it. **How:** DM [brendonrell](https://x.com/brendonrell) on X — the only channel, no form. ## Every artist relation runs through X **All artist relations are handled on Twitter/X, by direct message in XChat.** That is deliberate, and it is the only channel: no submission form, no inbox to apply through, no queue to sit in. Send it to **[brendonrell](https://x.com/brendonrell)** — the founder's own account, not the platform account. That is the desk artist relations run from, so a DM there reaches the person who runs the filter directly, with nothing in between. The platform account, [pricediscussion](https://x.com/pricediscussion), is where PD speaks publicly; it is not the way in. The practical consequences worth knowing: - **Anything else is slower, not faster.** A reply in a comment thread, a post tagging either account, or a message through another platform's chat can be missed. The DM is the channel that gets read. - **It is a conversation, not an application.** Questions are welcome before anything formal — what PD is, whether your work fits, how the economics work, what the timeline looks like. Nobody expects a pitch on the first message. - **Nothing you send is public.** The conversation stays between you and the platform, and so does the fact you had it. See [What's Private](/docs/whats-private). ## What to say first Keep the opening short. Two or three lines is plenty: - **Who you are** and where your work has been shown. - **A link to the work** — a site, a profile, a gallery of outputs. - **What you're after** — a question, a conversation, or consideration for a Project. If the conversation turns toward a Project, the full brief comes next — [Submit a Project](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project) lists exactly what that brief contains, and it is worth reading before you write it. ## What happens after The first message opens the conversation; nothing is decided in it. From there it goes one of the ways described in [Submit a Project](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project) — proceed, not yet, or not a fit — each of them delivered directly, with a reason. There is also a second door that doesn't start with a DM at all: every whitelisted PD artist holds **two vouch slots** and can put you forward from their Studio. A vouch lands on the founder's desk and opens the same conversation. ## Further reading - [How PD Works](/docs/for-artists/how-pd-works) - [Submit a Project](/docs/for-artists/submit-a-project) - [The Mint Flow](/docs/for-artists/the-mint-flow) - [Royalties](/docs/for-artists/royalties) --- --- title: "For Artists — Submit a Project" description: "How to submit work to Price Discussion: what to include in the brief, how decisions are made, and what happens between acceptance and deployment." category: "for-artists" keywords: ["submit", "filter", "brief", "artists"] last_updated: "2026-10-12" --- # For Artists — Submit a Project PD is filtered, not curated: every Project starts as a submission, and deployment is gated by an on-chain artist whitelist — but the gate is a quality floor, not a taste-making program. This page covers what to send, how decisions happen, and the path from acceptance to a deployed contract. Submissions arrive through the same door every artist relation does: a direct message on X to [brendonrell](https://x.com/brendonrell). See [Get in Touch](/docs/for-artists/get-in-touch). **How:** DM your brief to [brendonrell](https://x.com/brendonrell) on X. ## What to submit The initial submission is a brief that lets the filter understand the work — not a finished project ready to deploy. A strong brief includes: - **A description of the work.** What it is conceptually, what the algorithm is doing, and what ranges the parameter space produces. - **A representative gallery.** Twenty to fifty rendered outputs covering the range of the work — the true distribution, not cherry-picked highlights. - **An algorithm description.** A plain-language explanation of the generation logic. Source is welcome but not required at submission. - **A sense of scale.** Intended edition count (PD Projects run from 22 to 9,999 Outputs) and target mint price. - **A sense of who you are.** Where the work has been shown, and where you come from culturally and aesthetically. ## How decisions are made The filter is Brendon, with input from a small invited circle. Submissions are evaluated qualitatively — there is no formula, no rubric, no scoring — and decisions arrive in conversation with the submitting artist, as one of: - **Yes, let's proceed.** The platform and the artist work through the specifics together: edition count, mint price, timing, and the surrounding context for the release. - **Not yet.** A specific reason, and what would unlock further conversation. - **Not a fit.** A direct explanation of why the work sits outside PD's thesis — often with a suggestion of platforms that fit it better. ### The vouch route There is a second door: every whitelisted PD artist holds **two vouch slots** and can put an artist forward from [their Studio](/docs/studio/overview). A vouch lands directly on the founder's desk and opens the conversation — it is input to the filter, never automatic admission. ## From acceptance to deployment 1. **Whitelisting.** The factory admin whitelists your wallet on-chain (`PDFactory.whitelistArtist`). Deployment is impossible without it. This step is stealth — nothing about it appears anywhere public until you deploy; see [What's Private](/docs/whats-private). 2. **Script preparation.** Your generative script is prepared for on-chain storage — it reads the token hash PD's contract assigns each Output and must render deterministically from it. If the work uses a library (at launch, p5.js 1.11.13), it binds the on-chain [blessed library](/docs/contracts/library-registry). 3. **You deploy.** Your own wallet sends it, with your name, symbol, supply, mint price, language choice (vanilla JavaScript or p5.js 1.11.13; see [Writing for the Chain](/docs/for-artists/writing-for-the-chain)), colorway, and script. A script that fits in one chunk can go up with `createProject` in a single transaction; a bigger one is uploaded chunk by chunk (`stageScriptChunk`), then `createProjectFromStaged` binds it. That final transaction deploys your Project contract and its royalty splitter atomically. See [The Mint Flow](/docs/for-artists/the-mint-flow). 4. **The Project page goes live.** PriceOS picks the new Project up from the factory's `ProjectCreated` event. The factory enforces a **60-day cooldown** between an artist's Projects, counted from deployment. ## Further reading - [How PD Works](/docs/for-artists/how-pd-works) - [The Mint Flow](/docs/for-artists/the-mint-flow) - [PDFactory contract reference](/docs/contracts/pd-factory) --- --- title: "For Artists — Writing for the Chain" description: "Everything your script needs to know before it goes on Ethereum: what it receives, the library you can build on (its exact version), how every Output gets its seed, what collectors see in the minutes after a mint, and a checklist before you deploy." category: "for-artists" keywords: ["artists", "script", "tokenData", "hash", "libraries", "p5.js", "reveal", "seed", "determinism", "checklist"] last_updated: "2026-10-12" --- # For Artists — Writing for the Chain This page is the whole picture from your side of the canvas. Read it once before you deploy and nothing that happens to your work will surprise you. ## The short version - **Your script runs from Ethereum, forever.** No server, no pinning service, no PD required. - **Every Output gets one hash**, and your script turns that hash into the artwork. Same hash, same Output, every time, on every device. - **You pick one language**: plain JavaScript, or p5.js, stored on-chain at an exact, frozen version. - **Nobody can pick their traits.** Not collectors, not bots, not PD, not you. An Output's hash is decided by the block *after* its mint, so there is nothing to peek at and nothing to retry. - **For a few seconds after a mint the Output shows as "pending"**, then it reveals. That short pause is what keeps your rarities honest. ## What your script receives Before your first line runs, the page defines one object: ```js tokenData = { hash: "0x3fa4…", // 64 hex characters: this piece's seed tokenId: "17" // the piece's number in your edition } ``` The page adds nothing else of its own. Its only global names are `tokenData`, your library's own (p5's functions) and, when you build on a library, the unzipper's `PD_INFLATE`. Give your own globals other names so you never overwrite one of them. The hash is the only randomness your work should ever use. Turn it into numbers with a small seeded generator, for example: ```js // Seeded random from tokenData.hash: same hash, same sequence, always. function rng(hash) { let a = parseInt(hash.slice(2, 10), 16), b = parseInt(hash.slice(10, 18), 16), c = parseInt(hash.slice(18, 26), 16), d = parseInt(hash.slice(26, 34), 16); return function () { // sfc32 a >>>= 0; b >>>= 0; c >>>= 0; d >>>= 0; let t = (a + b) | 0; a = b ^ (b >>> 9); b = (c + (c << 3)) | 0; c = (c << 21) | (c >>> 11); d = (d + 1) | 0; t = (t + d) | 0; c = (c + t) | 0; return (t >>> 0) / 4294967296; }; } const R = rng(tokenData.hash); const hue = R() * 360; // every call gives the next number in this piece's sequence ``` If you publish traits for collectors to filter by, set them from the same hash. See [Subtraits](/docs/for-artists/what-are-subtraits). ## Pick your language The library below is stored on Ethereum once, compressed, and frozen at the exact version shown. A p5.js project binds to it when you deploy, and that binding never changes, so your work can never break because a library updated. | Language | Exact version | What your script gets | Good to know | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | **JavaScript** | — | the browser, nothing added | No library, no extra weight. | | **p5.js** | 1.11.13 | p5 in global mode: `setup()`, `draw()` | The p5 most existing sketches and tutorials are written for. | Your library is fully loaded before your first line runs, so you never wait for it or check whether it's ready. Write your script exactly as you would with a normal `
