For Collectors — How PD Works

Price Discussion is a place to collect filtered — not curated — generative art and to be part of the conversation the market has about it. This page is the plain-terms framing; Wallet Setup and The Secondary Market go deeper.

What you are collecting

An Output — one minted Output from an artist's Project. Every Output is an ERC-721 token whose artwork is generated by the artist's script from its own hash — committed the moment you mint, revealed a block later so nobody can pick their outcome — and both the script and the hash live on Ethereum itself. Your Output renders from chain data alone: no server, no pinned file, no platform dependency. Own the token, own the work — in the strongest sense the medium currently allows.

Every Project on PD passed the filter — a quality floor, not a taste-making gate — deployed its own immutable contract, and mints on fixed terms: fixed supply (22 to 9,999), fixed price, open to everyone. There are no allowlists at the contract level and no admin who can pause or change a live mint.

Minting

When a Project is minting, its page carries the mint button. One tap prompts your wallet with the exact cost — the price on the button, no surprises, no overpayment accepted. The moment the transaction confirms, your Output exists, its artwork is determined, and the artist has already been paid their 95% inside your very transaction.

Trading

PD runs its own market: listings, offers and sales settle in the app, on the Marketplace floor and from any Output page. Your Outputs are also standard ERC-721s, so they trade on third-party venues too — those that honor Ethereum's royalty standard (EIP-2981) pay the same 5% royalty, 3% of it to the artist. PriceOS reads all of it back into Price Story, the Tape, the Genome and Pings. On PD, watching prices move is the discussion.

What's free

Everything that isn't a transaction: signing in, browsing, starring, wishlisting, following artists and collectors, building albums, setting price targets, and every tool in the app. You pay only when you mint or trade, and those costs are the chain's, visible in your wallet before you approve.

What PD does not do

  • PD does not custody anything. Your wallet holds your Outputs; PD has no access to your keys and no recovery flow that bypasses your wallet.
  • PD does not match buyers and sellers. Secondary trades happen on third-party marketplaces.
  • PD cannot recover a lost seed phrase. Nobody can — that is the deal with self-custody.
