Factions ⚐
Your color is who you fight for, and every artwork remembers every hand.
There is a war on PD. Nobody announces it. There is no menu for it, no button that says PLAY. If you've never noticed it, that's by design — the platform works exactly the same without it, forever. But if you've ever forged your Sigil, flown it in a color and been told, quietly, that you just chose a side — this page is the whole truth.
How: Forge your Sigil, then fly it in a color as your Profile Logo — that raises your flag.
Enlisting — your Sigil, in a color
Every profile can fly a Profile Logo — the mark in the corner, pickable in a whole ring of colors. The color bubbles are just style. Your Sigil in a color is not.
Flying a colored Sigil is raising a flag. The moment you pick one, the toast tells you what you actually did:
Profile Faction: GOLD
That's the entire onboarding. The color IS the faction. There are no faction names in the app — not because they don't have names, but because naming them is your job. Factions name themselves in the community; the app only ever speaks in color.
The Sigil ring comes in shade variants — a deep blue and a bright blue both fly BLUE. Same faction, different shade of the same jersey.
What does NOT enlist you: the color bubbles, the solid logos, the $PRICE wordmarks, Petey, and every holo finish. Those are all neutral. Style, not allegiance. (Oaths sworn back when the bubbles enlisted still stand.)
The Sigil — the mark you forge
Scroll the Profile Logo carousel to its very last tile and you'll find the Forge. Inside is a mark you've never seen before — three or four carved glyphs, unlike anyone else's — and the truth about it: it was written into your wallet before you ever arrived. The Forge doesn't design it. It only reveals it.
- Forging is a choice, and it's forever. One tap, no undo, no re-roll. The stone remembers.
- Once forged, the Sigil trails your @name — on the tape, on your profile, in the navbar next to your PriceSprite and PriceRank. Sprite and rank lead the name; the Sigil signs it.
- Your Sigil ring joins the carousel — your mark in every faction color, right after the holo finishes. Raising a Sigil color is raising that faction's flag — the only way to: the toast will tell you what you just swore.
- The art remembers it too. Your hand in every margin upgrades from your PriceSprite to your Sigil — your tattoo in the stone of every Output you ever held.
- Unforged wallets lose nothing: the PriceSprite carries identity everywhere, the way it always has.
The oath
- The flag flies until you raise another. Switching to a neutral logo does not break your oath — your last flag stands and your time under it keeps accruing. You're just not flying it publicly, and all war surfaces quietly disappear while you're neutral.
- Only a different faction color is defection. Pick a rival color and
the toast says so:
Oath: BROKEN. Defection is expensive by design:- all your accrued time under the old flag resets to zero,
- your new flag doesn't count for 30 days (the cooldown),
- and the defection is permanent record — a scar.
- Loyalty is the only compounding strategy. Bandwagoning forfeits everything.
The Marginalia — the art remembers
Every artwork on PD carries an invisible margin: the ordered record of every wallet that ever held it. To see it, you perform the ceremony:
Press and hold the artwork — and keep holding. Not the quick hold that opens menus elsewhere. A long, deliberate, ceremonial hold — around ten seconds. The frame will start assembling around the art the moment you press; hold until it binds.
When the border pops out, you're looking at:
- The hands. Every wallet that held this Output, in order, wearing its real PriceSprite. A marketplace sale strikes deep — full ink. A private transfer lands faint — a ghost. The difference is permanent.
- The margin holds 12 hands. An Output with all 12 slots full is a Relic — its provenance is literally complete.
- The crypt. When a 13th hand arrives, the oldest hand is struck from the stone — removed from the visible margin and interred, permanently, in the Output's crypt. Being struck is its own kind of legend. Wear it.
- The four corners. Enlisted viewers see the war layer: the corners of the frame fly the color of the faction that holds this ground. Corners fall one at a time as a faction's hold deepens. Sweep all four and the Output flies one banner.
- The founding hand — slot 1, the minter — is the Founder's Hand, forever.
The artwork itself is never touched. The margin lives around the art, not on it. Neutral users who find the ceremony see the hands — provenance belongs to everyone — but the corners, the banners, and the war stay invisible until a flag flies on your profile.
The war — how ground is taken
The whole platform is the board. Every collection is territory.
The loop: ENLIST → HOLD → MARK → SIEGE → CONQUER → the Book remembers.
Grip — what holding means
A faction's grip on a collection is the sum, over every enlisted member holding Outputs there, of time-under-flag × standing.
- Time — how long you've held the Output while under your current oath. Time is the one resource that can't be bought, faked, or multiplied.
- Standing — your PriceRank tier. Rank is earned by real on-chain activity and is already hard-capped against free-action farming, which means fresh wallets weigh nothing. A 50-alt army adds 50 × 0.
- Whale damping — your first handful of Outputs in a collection count at full weight; beyond that, each additional Output counts less. One whale cannot sweep a collection. Factions that want ground must recruit.
The states of ground
- Held — one faction has the plurality of grip.
- Stronghold — the leader holds a dominant share and has kept the lead for a week. Strongholds get an anchor: the longest-standing holder becomes the Warden of that collection.
- Siege — a rival's grip crosses the siege line (85% of the leader's). A siege is broadcast when it opens and must be held for 72 hours before anything falls. There is no sniping — every siege is visible coming, which is exactly when the fighting gets loud.
- Conquest — the siege holds and the lead flips. Broadcast once, permanent forever. The corners fall.
Marks — every trade writes the war
Every mint, sale, and transfer writes the margin (one mark per wallet per Output, ever — re-buying and re-selling the same Output writes nothing new, which is why wash trading is pointless). Both sides of every trade feed the game: the buyer plants presence, the seller's ink stays in the stone forever. They can sell, but they can't unsign you.
This is the core strategic dilemma — Grip vs Ink. Holding compounds grip but writes no history. Selling strikes your permanent ink but surrenders the ground. Which Outputs are your banners, and which are your envoys?
The Book of Conquests ≣
The war's only leaderboard is a chronicle. Every siege raised, siege repelled, conquest, stronghold, relic sealed, and stone struck is a dated, permanent line in the Book of Conquests. Nothing resets. Nothing is seasonal. The map only accretes story.
The Book is chronicled in Ages. Age I is the Founding — everyone starts at zero, and day one is the land rush. New Ages are declared at platform milestones. Entries from a closed Age can never be re-earned.
Titles — earned, never assigned
There are no classes and no points. Behavior is the class:
- Warden of a collection — the longest-standing holder anchoring a Stronghold.
- First Blood — the first sale ever struck into a collection's margins.
- Founder's Hand — a mark in slot 1 of any Output: its first release.
- Kingmaker — the hand whose trade completed a four-corner conquest.
- The Struck — interred in a crypt. A badge of honor in reverse.
The war on the map
Cartography is the war map. Enlisted users get a WAR control on the map — a layer toggle, on by default once you've joined (switch it off and it stays off, on every device):
- Held territories wear a coastline ring in the holding faction's color; a Stronghold's ring is twice as heavy, and a live siege pulses it.
- Contested ground is striped — the ring carries every faction with grip there, each stripe sized to its share, so the race reads at a glance.
- A live takeover flies ⚑ before the territory's name.
- The bottom-left war row reads who leads how many territories.
- Zoom to your own wallet and your empire's arcs fly your color; territories carrying your ink glow faintly at the edge — your Spread.
- Tap any territory for its card; with the layer on it also reads the ground
(
HELD · GOLD,SIEGE · BLUE vs GOLD), each faction's share (GOLD 62% · BLUE 38%) and any live takeover.
Civilians never see any of this. The map ships clean for everyone.
What the war pays
Nothing. On purpose.
The war mints status, not currency — corners, banners, titles, and lines in the Book. There is no rewards pool, no yield, no token. History doesn't inflate and can't be dumped. Money never buys the war either — nothing you can purchase moves grip, corners, marks, sieges, titles, or the Book, ever.
The one place the war touches a price tag is cosmetics: the sticker store's WAR BANNERS sheet sells the flag of every color, cheap, so the newly enlisted have something to wave. Stickers are jerseys, not weapons.
The constitution (the anti-cheat, in plain terms)
- Grip = time × standing. Standing comes from PriceRank, which free actions cannot farm.
- Fresh wallets weigh nothing; alts multiply nothing.
- One mark per wallet per Output, ever. Wash trading writes nothing.
- Defection resets everything, costs a 30-day cooldown, and scars.
- Sieges broadcast on open and take 72 hours to land. No sniping.
- Whale damping: breadth beats one bag; factions must recruit.
- Sales strike deep; private passes land faint — laundering is visibly second-class ink.
- Cosmetics never touch power.
FAQ
I picked a color bubble before this existed. Am I enlisted? If your oath was recorded, it stands — fly your Sigil in that color to see the war again. Bubbles don't enlist anyone new; a colored Sigil does.
Can I see the war without joining? You can perform the ceremony and read any Output's hands — provenance is public. The corners, banners, rings, and the Book's surfaces stay behind the flag.
How do I leave? Fly a neutral logo. Your oath stands quietly, your war surfaces vanish, and nothing is lost. Defecting to another color is the only thing that costs.
Which faction is winning? The map's war row says who leads the most territories right now. The rest is in the Book and the community — the war's real story is narrative, and the narrative is yours to argue about.
